1. Introduction

The Iqaluit Transit Bus Card System ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our transit card services.

2. What we collect

We collect information that you provide directly to us, including:

  • Personal data: name, email, phone number, date of birth, and mailing address when you register.
  • Financial data: we don't store full credit card information. Payments are processed through Stripe; we keep only transaction records (amount, date, Stripe payment intent IDs).
  • Usage data: when and where you tap your transit card on our buses — route, timestamp, and approximate geolocation of the tap.

3. How we use it

We use the information for:

  • Providing and improving transit services.
  • Processing transactions and sending purchase confirmations.
  • Verifying eligibility for special fares (e.g. Elder, Child Free Rides).
  • Sending technical, security, and service notices.
  • Responding to your questions and customer service requests.
  • Planning routes and schedules from aggregate ridership trends.

4. Data security

Your transit card data is encrypted and your account password is securely hashed. All payment processing is PCI-DSS compliant. We monitor for unusual activity and restrict access to personal data to authorized staff only.

5. Sharing

We do not sell or trade your personally identifiable information. We only share data with trusted third parties helping us operate the service (e.g. our payment processor), and only under confidentiality terms.

6. Your rights

You can request access to or deletion of your data at any time. Contact us using the details below. We respond within 30 days.
